Common Wedding Video Questions
Thinking about hiring a wedding videographer?
Do I have to choose a Rivion package, or can I customize it to my specific event?
We pride ourselves on being flexible so you can absolutely start from scratch and design a package that suits the specifics of your day.
What happens after booking?
After the contract is signed and the deposit is paid, our normal procedure is that Abby Swett (Director of Wedding Day Operations) will reach out around 30-45 days prior to your event and get all the pertinent details of your video. Customization form, timeline, etc. That said, you’re always welcome to reach out at any time that works best for you, that is just our normal process, and it works for us.
How do we pay?
We have two primary ways of accepting payment; 1. Pay by check: 50% can be sent to Rivion Films @ 108 River Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. 2. Pay by PayPal: you don’t need an account and there are no fees to you. The PayPal option is the one whereby you can use your credit card.
Is my deposit refundable?
The deposit is not refundable. When we book and hold a date, we are then telling other clients we are unavailable for that date and forfeiting potential business. That said, please communicate with us the circumstances as there have been instances where an equitable outcome has been found.
Can I pick my own music?
Yes, kind of. You can choose your own music, but you will be limited to licensed music. This can best be explained by checking out our blog post on the subject: https://rivionweddings.com/music-for-wedding-videos/
How many editing revisions do we get?
One round of major revisions is included with your package. “Major” is defined as any edits requiring more than an hour of editing time to correct. Upon receipt of your film if you’re not completely satisfied, please feel free to catalog a list of revisions and submit them all at once. After that, revisions will be billed at $100/hr.
What if I only have minor revisions after my first round of major revisions included in my package?
We’re a customer-first company and are always looking to ensure all our clients leave ecstatic with their films. In general, if a revision is a quick, small correction we will do this for free.
How long after the event will I receive my film?
Contractually we have a 3 month turn time, but internally our goal is always to be quicker. That said, depending on the time of year, the range between what’s in contract and when we deliver can vary.
Will I receive my raw footage? If so, will it be edited?
We provide the raw footage to all our customers as part of their packages, but it will not be edited in any way. The editing time is put towards the deliverables such as the social media edit, highlight edit, series of edits, etc. At the time of booking, if you know you would like a specific part of your event to be edited on its own (e.g., you want the entire ceremony to be edited and not just highlighted) let us know so we can add it on to your package.
We paid for 8 hours of videographer time, why don’t we have 8 hours of raw footage?
The amount of time you book is to procure the presence of a videographer(s) on-site. Much like a Hollywood movie, you cannot simply place a camera on a tripod and press record. We will have worked with you to customize the end product, coordinated around your unique timeline, to ensure our team is in the right place at the right time to capture the perfect angle, lighting, expressions, etc. This is done by moving around and recording only the most meaningful moments. As such, the total amount of recorded footage will never align with the total hours booked.
I paid for drone coverage, is it guaranteed on the day of my event?
Drone coverage is subject to zoning and weather conditions. We rarely have zoning issues, but it can be an issue in cities and near airports. Normally if we’re unable to get drone coverage it is due to weather conditions being too poor to fly the drone. In such circumstances, we have a couple of options; 1. We can refund the cost of the drone add-on. 2. If possible, we can take the drone out on another day when conditions are more favorable. 3. Lastly, if available, we can use stock footage either from our library or attempt to find it online.
What kind of equipment do Rivion videographers use?
We use all sorts of types of equipment to ensure you are getting the highest quality product available, in todays standards. Our team uses a variety of lenses, cameras, and audio gear to ensure the highest maximum quality is being achieved at every wedding. Typically we are filming on Sony or Canon.
